H8rs Better Recognize

Hey, Ally.
I almost forgot how good we are at having fun.

Look out Liberty.

this is where the magic happens

Lisa,

Remember that time we went to Walmart around midnight to buy jump ropes, but we bought bubbles and a puppy poster instead?

I found the same puppy poster in India.
What does this mean??
I don't know.

Bye!

Hey Ally.

I remember that.
Nothing like lifting milk to the tune of Cribs.

Do you remember this?
Who would schedule a group meeting at 8 in the morning???

Hey Lisa.
Remember this?

I do, too.

A Goode Day

Twenty years ago, Lisa of Country Glen was born.
And we're all glad she was.

A year ago, we were Classic Skating together in our finest threads.
This year, that wasn't possible.

Lisa is in London.
I'm in India.
Alliterations are fun.

This is late, I know.

But, after Lisa's FHE experience with an Indian family in Fiji, she told me she's a little bit afraid of Indian people.

And so, my birthday gift to you, Lisa, is to cast aside those fears for good.

With this collection of pictures I'm calling "Go Lisa," I hope to show you that India is just a country of a billion people cheering for you.

HBD, kid.

I can't wait until we're camping out in Provo this winter.

P.S. I, like, really need yo address.

Pile of Broken Wood

Hey Ally.

It's funny to think that this one isn't that bad.

crazy like an ape

Here we are. We're in the Dickson's kitchen, snacking on green giant sugar snap peas, Go-Gurt and blonde brownies, ready to get this blog going again.

Where do we start? It seems like we've had a lot going on, but now we can't really think of anything. So we'll start with today.

We went down to this little bistro called Zupa's in Orem and met up with these hunnies, who we have greatly missed.

They're all doing great. Gap, Humanities, Miss Utah, an "off" room mate. Everything is as it should be.

After our lunch, we ran some errands together. We had to drop off a bunch of rocks at McGee's to be engraved for the Olympus Stake's upcoming pioneer trek, and we saw this from across State street.

Nickel City was calling our name, and there is no place else we would rather be on a Tuesday afternoon. It seems were are about the only people in the world who feel this way, but we enjoyed having the place almost to ourselves.

Ally won 46 tickets, Lisa didn't. That's why Ally is making it rain in that picture.

After we got our prizes - fake fangs, a toy turtle, and frooties - we headed home. On the way, we saw a sign for the Lamb and Wool festival at Thanksgiving point, so we pulled over. Turns out its on Saturday if you're interested. We forgot to say we named the turtle 2-D. Cool, huh.

As far as the rest of our summer goes, it's been greatish. Ally works here:

It's called Millcreek Garden, and as we say, "It's a great day at Millcreek Garden!" It's a great day today, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day. Get it? She's mostly illegal immigrant/migrant worker status, but she's moving up. And by moving up we mean they wrote her name on a pair of scissors yesterday. Within five years she'll be running that place.

As for Lisa, she's been doing a lot of things around the house. Ally brings home the bacon, and Lisa cooks it. She didn't end up getting a job in the Beehive state, but it worked out splendidly. This is perfect opportunity to make an announcement of sorts. Lisa is going to nanny in Boston for eight weeks this summer! She just has to learn how to drive a stick shift and she's set. No cooking, no cleaning, just one on one time with the children. It will be like The Sound of Music meets Super Nanny.

And this is also the time to make another couple of announcements. Beginning June 4th, we won't see each other for more than six months. That's sad. But long live We Have A Blog. We will always have a blog. Let's face it.

It's also exciting though, because we're having adventures. We're going global, even more than that time some Chinese girls came to our grilled cheese party. We're going to do some studying abroad. Lisa is going to London, and Ally is going to India. Hare Krishna, tea. Cheers!

We keep it, like, way real.

Forget about this place.

It's gone. It can't exist without us. And if you think the girls who inherit our dorm room next year are going to put as much care into it as we did you're dreaming.

The last few days in the dorms were some of the best and worst of our short lives. It had the feeling of a refugee camp. We had a small shanty town in the floor lounge set up where the remaining survivors would tough it out together for the night, not knowing what the following day would bring.

Yeah, how dramatic does that sound.

Mostly we just had a few mattresses together, but there were definitely not enough beds for how many girls there were. Ally woke up on the couch one night. Personal space.

We didn't stop our picture taking with all the girls who were checking out. That was something that really kept us going. It gave us a reason to wake up in the morning.

Not only are there a lot of pictures, there are a lot of really really ugly pictures.

We've talked about making a album full of all the ugly pictures we've taken together over the years. Let's just say, all of these pictures with our floor mates would make that album in a second.

We kept going back and forth about whether to put them on da blog at all.
Ultimately, we decided it's not fair to let these girls miss out on the opportunity to be featured on the web just because we hadn't showered for a while and Ally is wearing the Soulja' Boy shirt in 90% of the pictures.

But we're not about to make them normal size.

Here's this collage just to prove that they're there.

We know you can barely see them.
Hey, here's something fun and only semi-related.

That's us and our suitemates in August,

and this is us with our suitemates just a few days ago.
You'd hardly recognize us with how much we've grown, huh.

Next time the two of us (Lisa and Ally) are reunited we'll probably bust out a good year-end-wrap-up post, since our blogging is strongest when we're sitting back to back at opposite desks.

Yep, we'll leave it at that for now. Keeps 'em coming back.

Tami's Tacky

Good news. Lisa's done with finals.
We forgot to mention her biology final involved identifying 70 birds by sight and bird call. Actually, that's all it involved. If you think that's easy you'd be wrong. She studied using this book:

It makes noises. Ally's favorite is the American Crow. She can identify it everytime.
Mama Joyce came down today and helped Ally pack up her belongings. Then we went to lunch. Skyroom. Go big or go home. We forgot to take a picture there, so this one will do.

We told her the picture would go on da blog...

We also told her that Moms aren't supposed to ride in the backseat of the of the Nissan Frontier, but she said it's okay when she's just out with friends.

Being done with finals is fun. We took a nap and thought about watching a movie.

Two more little Indians got killed. And by that we mean to more girls checked out.

That's Ashley. She's from Hawaii. We're jealous. She usually talks in a funny voice and it always surprises us.

This is Erin. Or her empty room. We tried to get a picture with her last night when we realized she was leaving this morning. In her own words, "No pictures." She might have been more compliant if we hadn't woken her up from her night's rest. Another Erin quote that we loved: "Are those gauchos?" They sort of were gauchos.

We're going to be pretty busy tomorrow. There's a lot of girls leaving and that means a lot of check outs we have to be present at.

We'll wear our matching dinosaur shirts around town and people will think we're dating

Good news. Ally's done with finals.
It took a couple of all-nighters, but it was worth it.
While the all-nighters did provide some extra hours for exam preparation, that's not what made them worth it. Rather, it was the opportunity to observe some great Lisa moments.
For example: Around 3:00 am this morning, Lisa began unconsciously talking to Ally. It was mostly mumbling and laughter, but the words Ally could distinguish were "best post ever."
We hope one day Lisa remembers what it is that would make the "best post ever" for this blog. We'll let you know if and when that happens.

And to think, this moment would have been lost if Ally had remembered she had a final at 7:00 am on April 20th all along and planned accordingly.

That's Lisa sleeping early this morning when Ally returned from her final. Funny, huh.

Because Ally has turned nocturnal, Lisa has gotten to see some priceless moments from her as well. For example:

Ally woke up very suddenly, looked out the window and said, "Where are the jump ropers??" Lisa replied with a profound, "What?" to which Ally said, "You told me there were people jump roping out there...You're stupid, Lisa." and fell asleep again for another two hours.
We're really going to miss moments like this.
Two more DJ girls checked out tonight.

Lisa

and

Morgan.

RIP

We liked how Lisa got up early every day and sometimes left treats by our door anonymously. We always knew it was her, though, and we greatly appreciated it.

We liked a lot of things about Morgan, but two new things we learned tonight was that she covered up some marks on her wall with White-Out and she just bought that BYU sweatshirt she's wearing at the bookstore. That's cool.

Finally, the ugly couch is gone. We didn't do anything to it. We just walked downstairs one day and it wasn't there. Bottom line, someone came and took it without our consent. We've learned that if you need to get rid of something just leave it in the stair well long enough. We hope that the first floor girls are handling it okay. We also hope that the couch has gone to a better place, wherever that is.

sorry I didn't rest with you today.

And so it begins

That's us and Andrea. She's all moved out of DJ Hally Hall. We want to hire her mom and sister pack up all of our stuff. The picture is small.

Our life has turned into the Agatha Christie novel And Then There Were None. But instead of dying in ways that parallel a nursery rhyme, everyone's just moving home.

In the words of our FHE father, Mark, who quoted someone else from something he probably read on the internet:

"The joy of meeting pays the pangs of absence; else who could bear it?"

Something else that will help us bear the pangs of absence is the fact that we've invited ourselves to the Wise house again sometime this summer.

Still, we're going to miss Andrea until then. We give her the All Around Most Passionate award for her work with Britney Spears and navigating a giant couch down a lot of stairs.

And then there were thirty seven...

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Lexi, you can't play with us.

Success.

And by that we mean we went to Classic Skating when it wasn't closed.

We're not done with finals or anything.

that party last night was awful crazy... oh wait, there was none

Today was our last day of class.

To celebrate, we went to our last classes, took some tests, went to our last dance at the WILK for a while (unless we crash EFY this summer like we did back in '08), and now we're blogging.

On Saturday we found ourselves still in possession of Nick's couch. Right now that thing is on the first floor in the stairwell. Some girls down there seem quite taken with it. They read on it, give back massages to their boyfriends on it, and we think one of them might have slept on it for a night. We're not positive, though.

But we digress.
Saturday. We hauled the couch into the Frontier again, and took a mini vacation to beautiful Springville, Utah. We drove into the middle of nowhere, set up the couch, and took these pictures. And yes, one of them is our new title picture. We're not embarassed, just proud. It's some of our best self-timer work ever.

After we were done soaking up the rays, listening to John Denver, and getting in touch with our Roots (Kunta Kinte), we headed back to big city life in Provo.

We weren't quite ready to get back to the real world, though. So we stopped here.

It's called Brambles, and we promised the owner we'd give her a shout out. They had a lot of real crafty cool stuff. Brambles will probably be Lisa's first client when she busts into the advertising world.

That night we went to Humor U and a party we weren't technically invited to. We feel like we did them a favor, though.

If you ever get a boyfriend

Here it is. A new post.

Friday. And we wanted to stay out late.

"We don't care what we do, we just want to be out late."

We didn't really have a plan, though. So, we looked for free couches on KSL dot com. We found an ad for one a couple of blocks away from us. We drove there. It was gone. And the owner is currently being hospitalized. We're legitimately concerned.
Bottom line: no couch.

We looked for other free couches online, but with no luck. There's a spayed border collie we could go pick up, though. Its name is Killer. You'd think we're making this stuff up.

Because we didn't have a couch of our own, we borrowed a 900 lbs one from our floor lounge. We feel like we earned it, since we carried it down three flights of stairs and into the back of Kim's truck.

Mostly we just wanted to sit on a couch somewhere, but since others were involved we expanded our plan to include baking cookies on the lights at the bell tower. Essential Freshman Experience #142, check. For extra seating, we picked up Nick's couch, too.

We stayed there until around 1:00 am. But we're not bragging. Nick left. We got the couch, sucker.

After hauling our floor lounge couch back upstairs (GIT 'R DUN) and throwing Nick's couch into our room,

we got ready to hike the Y with our chaperon.

Meet Dan.

He was kind enough to accompany us for the rest of the time we stayed out late.
He guided us to "the largest collegiate monument in the world," and also told us what all the people in the parked cars were doing. (see post title)

Provo! This is our city!

Then we went to Plan C. Den Dawgs. Denny's. Duh.

This one was on chaperon Dan.

We saw Steven again,

but he didn't see us.

We returned home at 4:00 am. We didn't need a watch to tell us it was that time. We knew because we couldn't stop laughing at everything. Especially the fact that Dan had a meeting at ten in the morning. Who would schedule that?

We were beyond tired. Like, we couldn't even speak. Or watch Fern Gully. So we watched Kim and Christine dye their hair instead.

It turned out beautifully.

We got into our beds at 4:58 am, fist pumped when the clock struck 5:00, and fell asleep immediately.
Lisa's eye hasn't stopped twitching.

UhHHhh, we're gonna go back to the dorm and change into some shorts

We can tell you're getting restless out there so we'll start with Thursday.

Lisa and this crew went to the temple and Ally watched Behind Enemy Lines for a class. Two different kinds of spiritual.

Since it was a Thursday night, we ventured to Classic Skating and found heaps of multi-racial, tween-aged, roller skaters. It turns out classic skating closes at 10 p.m. on weekdays. Yes, we do know how to use a phone. SUPER BUMMED! :( haha. We took this picture and went to Plan B, which is always Progressive Power Tumbling.

Let's just say, ARE YOU READY TO GET PUMMELED??!!
It turns out we're really bad at jumpolines, and by that we mean trampolines. Obvi. It turns out the man with dreads and a cut off is really good at jumpolines.

Then what? You guessed it - we went to Den Dawgs, and by that we mean Denny's, which is always Plan C. Sure it was midnight but our ma's don't (didn't) know.

This is Steven, our waiter. What a champ. We're sure we could have talked him into hiking the Y with us right then and there, but we didn't.

Then we came home, went to bed, woke up, and fine dined early that afternoon. We're trying to make the most of our last Dining Plus dolla dolla bills ya'll.

We just discussed it, and we both agree that Friday and Saturday deserve a new post.
