Turn My Swag On.

Sorry. We haven't blogged in ages. Maybe two ages. Here are a few things that have made us say "blog that."

-We won a record breaking game of capture the flag. Ally accidentally cheated and got two people out of jail when she herself was an inmate. We love the blue team and hate the yellow team.

-We're hoping to get over 80% on a college test one day. Fingers crossed.

-Taylor B. had us over for a home cooked meal. She doesn't want us to say that she'll make a great wife and mother one day, so we won't.

-A boy's testimony in our ward included the statement "Never take Econ 110 and Poly Sci 150. That's a mistake." Ally is currently enrolled in both of these classes.

-While writing our physical science text book, the authors were very liberal with their exclamation points. "Particles, like bullets, would never cancel out or bend through a slit!" Who knew science could be so exciting?!!!

-A visit from Kelsey and Joyce. Always a pleasure.

-True Blue. Maybe not as cool as True Aggie night, but close.

-Our first home football game. This is all we remember.

-A night back up North. The circumstances were sad, but it was nice to see family and friends. We love the Hanks.

-Lisa and her parents got frozen yogurt then drove to three places looking for french fries. The first two were closed and the third was open, but by then they decided to just go home and make nachos.

-Sunday dinner at Erica's house.

-The Cannon Center has had a very good musical mix the past couple of days.

-We went back to Wallgreen's and once again saw Shelly, of 19th birthday cigarette fame. To our enjoyment, we learned much more about her. She was married nine years, then got divorced. She just got married again in March to a gentleman she was friends with in high school, she sometimes gets scared working the graveyard shift, and she agrees that Classic Skating makes the best birthdays. We just wanted to hug her. Fo real.

-Lisa tutored some children today and found out that the kind Cannon Center stranger who brought her a birthday treat also tutors children. His name is Sam. That's twice he's made it on our blog.

-The big talk at Helaman Halls right now is either a) who you're going to General Conference with or b) who your home teachers are. We wouldn't have it any other way.

we love that. keep it real. -attles and lis squared.

Best. Birthday. Ever.

Wow. Lisa's been nineteen for six days. She's so old, so wise. We have so much to blog about.

We woke up on that fateful Friday morning after a cigarette run to a bedroom that looked like this, courtesy of suitemates Chelsey and Erica.

As evidenced by the picture, the red streamers were in front of Ally's closet. It was fun.

When Lisa got out of the shower, Jillian and Whitney were in our room. Ally let them in. As a consequence, this guy has been a resident of 3120 since about 8:45 am, September 11th, 2009.

On Lisa's birthday afternoon we went to some school or something. We can't remember, but it was fun. We had lunch in the Canon Center together. Lisa was wearing Ally's shirt because it was her birthday.

That evening, Lisa went back to SLC for some family time - grandparents in cowboy hats, Sawadee Thai Food, presents, Texas sheet cake, the works. She missed Ally, though.

Ally went to Gen X, then Fall Fest '09. Fall Fest consisted of magic tricks, speed dating, karaoke, and a dance. Basically, it was like every other event here. It's lucky those are all of her favorite things or this place would be a nightmare. She missed Lisa, though.

The next day Ally watched the big game at the Smith Field House while Lisa did some laundry at home. Ally had time for one more Gen X trip before Lisa got back down south.

Then, the party really began.

We had some pretty big dinner plans. For the event we chose our favorite little restaurant, The Canon Center. This wasn't a normal meal, however. Table cloths, center pieces, party hats, and multiple tables were involved. The theme was dinosaur. This was the best meal we have ever had, fo real. Too excited to eat, we mostly looked around and said "this is so fun" as many times as we could get away with. We were proud of the girls from our hall who were completely game. It was a huge success. Let's just say we bought 24 party hats and an estimated 15-17 people had to do without. Yeah. One highlight of the meal was the kind Canon Center stranger who brought Lisa a fun birthday treat. Nothing says "man, I hope you have a great day" like a donut, soft serve ice cream, and Cocoa Puffs.

If we thought dinner was fun, we weren't even prepared for what came next. Two words: Classic Skating. We crimped hair, wore leggings, put on purple eye shadow, and lended out our clothes like there was no tomorrow.

It was a dream come true. We were glad to see the Classic Skating down here is in equal if not worse shape than the Sandy one.

We mostly skated solo. And we mean solo. Like, not even with each other. But we boogied, pausing every once and a while for some pictures.

After a while, we looked around and noticed that the rest of the group looked exhausted and thoroughly ready to go. We could have skated all night, but we took one for the team and agreed to head out after we danced the Hustle. The evening ended with some of Clair's cakes in the floor lounge.

And that is as close to the perfect birthday as you can get. Take that My Super Sweet Sixteen.

it's only the beginning.

There we were, popcorn reading Physical Science in the style of a Choose Your Own Adventure novel when, suddenly, midnight came upon us. And it's Lisa's birthday! We screamed. Some girls ran into our room and screamed. We turned on Aaron Carter, and screamed.

Lisa's 19. You know what that means.

We (Ally, Lisa, and Christine, a hall mate who doesn't judge) made a quick Wallgreen's run to celebrate the occasion in style.

Note: We did not actually buy these. We couldn't even pronounce Marlboro. We asked Wallgreen's worker Shelly if we could just take a picture. She commented on how sad it was that the only thing you can do when you're nineteen is buy cigarettes, then took the picture for us. She said the Y flag added a lot of class. We agree.

Lisa should have nineteenth birthdays more often.

In The Ayer

We have come up with a fool proof way to work through any room mate problems we may have. Our R.A. gave us a paper about communication and cooperation to fill out together. We haven't done it. It might be lost. This is our strategy.

Ally: Hey, Lisa, I'm really sorry I left my jeans on the floor. Oh wait, those were your jeans.

or

Lisa: Hey, Ally, I'm really sorry my music was so loud this morning. Oh wait, that was you.

Then we laugh.

Bling

A few highlights from our Labor Day(s).

Ally

-Family reunion at Heber Valley Camp. "Did I forget to mention it's great to be a Jensen?" It is.

-The Morgan family sported matching Hawaiian shirts for the ropes course.

-We watched Milo and Otis all together. My brother observed that the movie was actually just some footage shot at a farm one day and people decided to try to make a story out of it. A cat and a dog could never be best friends.

-I slept talked in a crowded cabin. I also woke up in the morning to find everyone gone and everything packed up. They all went for a hike. No thanks, I didn't want to go.

-I tried to be good with kids, but my five year old cousins didn't really understand when I asked how much they bench.

-My family performed a skit with flashlights. No big deal.

-My dad did this

for quite some time. It was just like the good old days.

-Visited Natalie and Rosie back in Salt Sleezy. Discussed sororities and hemoglobin.

-Missed Lisa.

-Went back to P-town. I took Guitar Hero so I could have some friends until Lisa got back.

-Played Guitar Hero in the third floor lounge during visiting hours.

-Watched Penelope, with sum gurlz from da hall.

-FHE on Monday. We passed around a frisbee and said stupid things. Seriously. That was our activity.

-Waited for Lisa to get home the rest of Monday.

Lisa

- Missed Ally.

-Picked David up in St. George to continue driving to Lake Powell. Met up with Julie at the Hampton Inn parking lot. Chatted. What a treat.

-Drove to Lake Powell. Busy catching up, David and I missed the exit and had to take the long way. Drove through a lightning storm as well as Colorado City; where I smiled, remembering the last time I was there.

-Arrived at 2:30 A.M. Use to it. College.

-A mixture of events for the next few days including; running, sleeping, boating, cutting fingers off (but seriously), wave runnering, Jason Bourne, reading, watching BYU football game at the restaurant on the lake (go cougars), and eating cake.

-The family sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. Early? Yes. Necessary? Also, yes.

-On the way home Mother, Dad, and I got frozen yogurt. Mother and Dad really know how to pile it on, and I'm proud of that.

-Arriving back at the ranch, I began to get teary. Let's face it. I really like my family.

-Luckily, Ally was here to welcome me with a new box of Cheerios.

-The usual bed time giggle.

-And now it is even closer to my birthday.

WILK, MARB, JSB, HFAC

We're tired and we haven't read this much since the last Harry Potter came out. But, not to disappoint, here are some highlights:

Monday-

-First day of school. It's a blur. Lisa was late to all her classes. Whatever, it's college.

-FHE. We had to come up with a rap about our "family." We are in group eight. We're not sure yet if they live up to Purple Ten.

-At FHE we reunited with Kevin Wagstaff and our BYU world met our real world. Crazy. Everyone's nametags at FHE said their middle names. While we corrected people and told them our first names, Kevin was known for the remainder of the evening as Bjorn from Norway.

-We listened to Kevin lie to people for a while, and then went back to good old 3120 to do some reading.

Tuesday:

-Second day of school. We have a Book of Mormon class together. It's a huge class. We didn't sit by each other. (Lisa was kind of late) We have to read half of the Book of Mormon in two weeks.

-At lunch we saw a small child in the Canon. Ally said "somebody put a muzzle on that kid" and Lisa said "he needs to be in a cage." We didn't really think much of it. Hopefully nobody was listening.

-Went to dinner at Zupa's with our suitemates. Saw Lisa Tate.

-Ward prayer complete with spiritual thought by Bjorn Wagstaff.

-Looked at Kevin's scooter for a minute.

-Talked to a kid who was on a dodge ball team called Team Swine Flu. They wore latex gloves and hygenic masks. We approved.

-Were favored with a clarinet solo by Dylan.

Wednesday

-We ate breakfast with Brett, who told us all about the huge party going on at the Dude Ranch. Aka, the second floor of Budge Hall. Our ward.

-Third day of school. We went to physical science together.

-Lisa had lunch with Ben who said, "We need to start breeding redheads. They're becoming extinct. They're rather sparce these days."

-Ally sat by a boy in Music 101 who said he knew nothing about music and proceeded to yell out the frequencies of every note the professor played on the piano.

-After dinner we headed to the Dude Ranch for the huge rave. Upon entering Budge we encountered a sign that said "Attention: There will NOT be a 'dance party' here tonight. " The sign lied. College kids are rule-breakers and Nathaniel led us upstairs. It was crazy. Shirts over the lights, a disco ball with a spotlight on it, a police light, some huge speakers. We danced to a few choice songs - Caribou Lou, Whatcha Say, Turn My Swag On, just to name a few - before the event was shut down by the R.A. It was a fire hazard.

-We headed to the next party in Merrill Hall. More shirts over the lights. It got pretty out of hand, so we left. Some Mountain Dew may have been involved.

-Next, we sat on the lawn outside Budge and Merrill. Kevin made everything awkward. We watched him talk to people coming out of the buildings for ages. His favorite question was "Are there, like, a lot of hot chicks in there?" He asked both boys and girls.

-Kylie and Hayley visited from Heritage. They were jealous of the Helaman social life.

-Lisa read, Ally visited the Olson/Berhow residence to hear about their adventures.

Today

-Lisa got up early.

-Ally asked the girl next to her in economics for a piece of paper. The girl had a whole notebook and said she couldn't spare a piece. Ally took notes in her planner.

-Ate lunch in the Canon with Heather. Heather left and we were sitting side by side. Lisa got more fruit and Ally moved to the other side of the table.

-More classes. Book of Mormon was cancelled.

-Terry and Clair dropped by on their way to Lake Powell.

-Went to Walmart to get Lisa's oil changed. While we waited we read the Book of Mormon on coolers in the camping aisle. It was nice to get away from it all. A family spent a long time looking at sleeping bags, but ultimately decided to buy one online.

-Dinner with Cameron, Ben, and Steve Awesome. The dream team. We hope you make Men's Choir, Cameron.

-Reading, reading, popcorn reading.

-While we were just eating Banana Nut Cheerios on our bed, we heard yelling outside. We opened our blinds and looked down to see four kids. Three were dressed like The Three Musketeers, and one was in a fat suit. We love it here.

Finally, some BYU observations

-Couples holding hands walk slow

-Parents pushing strollers walk fast

-Faux hawks, V-neck shirts, and thick frame glasses are boys' attempts to retain their individuality amidst the Honor Code.

-If you're sitting in a group of people, girls who come talk to you only introduce themselves to the boys.

-It's really bright in the morning. There's so much sun out.

-the "I was a U of U fan, but I've repented" joke is used a lot.
